Why Strategic decisions outperform hard work

Strategic decisions matter more than hard work

I learned the hard way, when I had a warehouse job.

They gave me a smart watch and told me to get my productivity to at least 75%.Β

I wanted to get at least 100%.

But for the first month my productivity was only 35–40%.Β

100%? It felt impossible!

I tried to boost it by being faster, running more.

Logic said β€œI should become more productive if I am faster”.

But this logic failed to give results.

I would have given up, if I did not see my friend getting solid 100%+ score.

Further more, my friend was one of the slowest and calmest people on the whole team.Β

But his productivity, was consistently above 100%!

He was 1/2 my speed but more than 2x my productivity.Β

Something did not add up!

It took months to realize the secret: small, strategic decisions.Β

They add up over a 6-8h shift.

Eliminate overthinking.

Every wrong decision is costly.

But every second spend on indecision multiplies by 100 and 1000 at end of the day.

Indecision often costs more than a mistake.

I had so many challenges to get to 100%, but I finally did.

But only because I had a clear target and I knew what I wanted.

This is under-rated, but most important part in effective decision making:

Know what you want!

And it’s not the same as what you don’t want!
