It’s rare to find an A-player who loves team meetings.
And it’s not because they hate meetings,
it’s because the meetings usually are designed for C-players.
It’s not enough to know one’s attitude towards meetings.
It’s the reason why they feel that way where Gold is mined.
Once you know your team and your team desires,
you can design meeting that is not only productive but enjoyable.
What few leaders realize is that enjoyment is indication of high-performance.
Most leaders fill their meetings with dead time.
This is that time is soul crushing for high-performers.
If you’re not excited about the meeting,
How can you expect your team to be excited as well?
If you are truly excited, but you don’t see your team responding in kind,
The odd are you not speaking their language.
The odds are you’re not giving them reason to feel excited about.
The odds are you’re not involving them in their zone of genius.
If I’ve given opportunity to listen to something that’s not relevant to my work
or actually doing my work?
10 out of 10 times I would choose to do my work.
That’s why the quickest hack to productive and enjoyable meetings is to make them short and to the point.
And yes, there are always those who want to chat and connect.
